What Does Fascia Mean

You may be questioning yourself as to what does fascia mean. Fascia is the term for the thick layers of white connective tissue which can be found throughout the entire body.

These layers of connective tissue contain a protein, collagen, which is readily found elsewhere in the body such as in tendons, cartilage and in your skin as well.

The collagen provides facia with strength which benefits the skin by offering a youthful appearance.

The layers that fascia are composed of are very tightly wrapped around the entire body, in effect keeping your muscles and internal organs in a correct relationship with one another. For instance, your heart is surrounded by fascia along with your lungs which are also surrounded by fascia-like-membranes.

Your muscle fibers are very tightly wrapped with fascia allowing them to operate as a single unit.

The collagen protein in fascia in effect offers support, and provides durability to the affected area revealing many options to enhance and restore your skin's youthful appearance.
